Thickness Versus Surface Contact

The 0.20 mm foam provides marginally more thickness than 5906, but it remains a thin tape. Parts should already have good dimensional matching before pressure is applied.

Application pressure improves adhesive wet-out; it cannot compensate for a substantial gap between components.

Peel Versus Shear Loading

5907 is generally better suited to joints that distribute force across the tape area. Designs that continuously lift one edge can create peel or cleavage stress and may fail even when the total bonded area appears sufficient.

Static Load and Creep

Acrylic foam is viscoelastic. Its effective strength and stiffness depend on the loading rate, temperature, duration, and joint geometry. A sustained static load should therefore be evaluated differently from a short-duration assembly or handling load.

Surface Preparation and Application
